With the first snow of the holiday season in the rear view mirror, I am sure you have located the scarves and gloves that were tucked away and you are ready to brave the colder weather. Well, bundle up and get out to these events in the Basin. Just don’t bundle up too much since there is a high of 74 on Sunday! Layers, people. Layers!

Midland’s Rockin’ Christmas Parade

Check out Midland’s Rockin’ Christmas Parade Saturday night. The lighted Parade takes place starting at 6:30 p.m. and will have a “Rockin’ Christmas” theme with inspiration from the 50’s and 60’s. The parade route will follow A Street from Ventura Avenue near Windlands Park and conclude near Midland High School. (www.midlandtxchamber.com)

Yuletide at the Yucca

Nothing gets you in the spirit more than watching some hula? Well you are in luck! Yuletide at the Yucca is Friday, December 9 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, December 10 at 1:30 PM. Participants include: Absolute Dance, Aloha O Hawaii Dance Group, Ballet Folklorico, and the Pickwick Players. FYI leave your grass skirts at home. They are welcome on the dancers but not the audience members. (mctmidland.org)

4th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Run

And finally, looking to get a head start on those fitness New Year’s resolutions? Come out Saturday morning for the 4th annual Ugly Christmas Sweater run in downtown Midland. If you have ever dreamt of running a 5k in a sweater and then being rewarded for your efforts with hot chocolate and cookies, well this is for you.
